It's hard to believe that it was only eight years ago that Beyoncé released her debut solo album (and appeared on her first Complex cover). Today, she moves like a seasoned vet, blowing her pop peers out of the water with her professionalism and power on stage. With her latest album 4, it seems like B is pushing every aspect of her career in bold new creative directions, which makes her the perfect person to cover our annual Style & Design issue, where we showcase all the cutting edge developments in Complex's world.
For the cover story, we recruited photographer Thierry Le Gouès and artist Ebon Heath, who created the unique typography sculptures that surround B. Jeez! Beyonce, Beyonce, Beyonce! Are you people paid to write about and photograph this chick? She's pretty - so what!!! Moderately talented - I see women at the local clubs that are better dancers. Horrible singer - trained well but she cannot sing. True singers - Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Mary J, Jennifer Houston - these are singers. Beyonce came out at an opportune time - when all you really have to do is have a good body, lots of someone else's hair, makeup,a good promoter and a very rich and talented husband. Why does everyone keep sniffing her ass! Give us someone to admire and adore - just kidding! I have a life and it does not include worshipping at the feet of Beyonce!
