From what spawned one of the greatest hip-hop diss songs of all time, producer Ron Browz could have had it a different way. In a sit down with ThisIs50, he mentions his "Ether" beat almost landed in the hands of Jay-Z when one of his A&R's heard the beat and wanted to pass it along to Jay.
Even though he had a lot of people hear the production before hand, the beat ultimately landed in Nas' hands at the right moment, and "Ether" was created. Imagine what Hov would have done with that, though? They would have had more in common than just Carmen.
