Best Song: "On Fire"

On 2009’s Relapse, Eminem found his way back to the mountain, but his return didn't feel complete. The achievements on Recovery are varied. At times they’re technical: Em delves deeper into his lyric sheet than ever, spewing out internal rhymes at a spitfire rate that you can only appreciate on intense, repeated listens. Other times they’re purely emotional: He hasn’t sounded this brash and unfiltered since his early days. But ultimately what makes it so poignant is its overarching narrative, both musical and otherwise. Eminem survived a public battle with addiction and a few years of artistic stagnation. On Recovery, through sheer will and determination, he picks up the pieces and walks down the road to recovery with the cold wind at his back.
