There’s may be no shortage of music festivals and food festivals in and around Toronto in the summer months, but there’s about to be one more that combines your love of music with your love of food. Big Feastival, which originated in the UK, is coming to the Toronto area this summer the weekend of August 18th to the 20th.
Founded by Jamie Oliver and Blur bassist Alex James, the festival will take place just an hour north of the city at Burl’s Creek Event Ground in Oro-Medonte. On the music side, Weezer and Ben Harper will be headlining with The Strumbellas, Basia Bulat, Magic!, Dwayne Gretzky and De La Soul making an appearance, among others.
If you’re going for the food, you can look forward to watching live demonstrations and Q&As and trying out dishes from Chuck Hughes, Rob Gentile, Derek Dammann, Vikram Vij, Michael Hunger, and more.
The event is open to families too with kid-friendly acts like Fred Penner, Paw Patrol and Splash’N Boots putting on shows. There will also be plenty of activities, rides and games to keep the kids occupied all weekend long. Camping space will be available just like it is for festivals like WayHome and Boots & Hearts which are held at the same venue. While a weekend long camping pass will come in at around $220 for adults, kids 12 and under are completely free.
You might not get the crazy festival vibes you’re used to at this one, but if you’re looking for something to fill in the last few weekends before the kids go back to school, Big Feastival might be the perfect option.
