With the shutdown entering its third weekend, frustration in D.C. has reached a breaking point. Some peoplelike prostitutes and policehaven't been furloughed, however. There's always dirty work to be done.

DCist reports that 60 people were arrested over the weekend as part of "Operation Off the Streets 2," a cleansing initiative. Authorities used "911 calls," "listserv postings" and numerous community meetings held throughout the nation's capital. Via email, the Metropolitan Police Department explained that both men and women have been busted for everything ranging from street level prostitution to more advanced Internet and hotel arrangements in Northwest D.C.

Consider this another shutdown of sorts; one with a different type of impact on the District as a whole.
