California Police Find Alligator Purchased in Honor of 2Pac Guarding Green

In what's quite possibly one of the year's strangestand beststories, the sheriff's department in Alameda County, CA were in the midst of a "probation compliance" check at a Castro Valley home when they found a five-foot alligator guarding marijuana.

The alligator, named "Mr. Teeth," was guarding 34 pounds of marijuana from a Plexiglass tankSheriff Sgt. J.D. Nelson was understandably shocked by the discovery. "We come across guard dogs like pit bulls quite frequently, but a guard alligator is very very unusual," he said.

Here's the best part of the story: Assif Mayr purchased Mr. Teeth back in 1996 "to commemorate the death of rapper Tupac Shakur." Mayr was taken to Santa Rita jail and detained on $160,000 bond, while Mr. Teeth was taken to the Oakland Zoo.

Picture him rollin' to jail and explaining his arrest. We're sure the sheriff's department had quite the laugh.
