In an interview with T Magazine a month ago, Jeff Koons answered questions about his $20,000 Balloon Venus sculpture collaboration with Dom Perignon by saying, "I very rarely do anything with brands. I worked with BMW to do an art car, and the reason I did that was because of the artists who had participated before, so I would have a dialogue with their work. With Dom Pérignon, other artists had been involved in their program. I wanted to participate in that dialogue. Also, they stand for quality — the same kind of quality that I like to attribute to my work."

In addition to collaborating with Lady Gaga on a sculpture for her ARTPOP album cover, Koons is bringing the signed BMW Art Car he made, which was initially debuted at Paris' Centre Pompidou in 2010, to Art Basel Miami Beach this December. It marks the first time that the BMW M3 GT2 has been shown in North America, following Koons' donation of his fee from BMW to the International Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Koons Family Institute, a resource of ICMEC.

BMW says that Koons "collected images of race cars, related graphics, vibrant colors, speed, and explosions. The resulting artwork of bright colors conceived by Koons is evocative of power, motion, and bursting energy. Its silver interior along with the powerful exterior design, the Art Car will impart a dynamic appearance even when it’s standing still."

Look forward to seeing the car at the Miami Botanical Garden starting December 5, 2013.
