Street art is nothing new, and neither are the art dealers and banker douchebags who try to cash in on "the next big thing". But what the high art world often fails to realize is that the core of street art is the public display of the work and the interaction with the world—it has little to do with screenprints on gallery walls. This is also probably why it continues to remain a valid art form no matter how many Banksy paintings Brad Pitt buys.
One guy who does get this world is Sebastian Buck, the founder/curator/writer of unurth.com. If it's happening on the street and if it's any good, this guy is on it. To get a legit read on what's going on in the global street art scene right now, we tapped Sebastian for his opinion on the 50 greatest street artists working right now. Click on the gallery above to check out his countdown.

WOAH! Great list but you have left out so many amazing Australian artists, clearly this is just a northern hemisphere thing. Lister, Phibs, Reka all missing from the list, criminal.

the top 10 misses four key innovators in this space (street art 2.0/internet-connected street art/21st century street art): Swoon, Shepard Fairey, Mark Jenkins, and Evan Roth. & given Barry McGee's influence on street art 2.0 (& innovations since with bringing the street into the gallery space), it feels like he should be there too.

I find it funny that the writer bangs on bankers, banksy, and dealers.while i read this, behind is a wall paper for coors light!!!.. also the company i assume he works for has several fashion lines for each season and his shirts go for 40-60 dollars unless you get it at Ross or the other secret spots your neighborhood hip hop head wont tell you about.he also has a magazine and throws vip parties that most of us wont ever be able to attend. hey artist!! it allright to make money doing what you love !!!! Its only selling out if you forget where you came from ( look at this site) stop hating and help other people do what they love or else we'll all end up working as a delivery boy for some massive pizza company "just trying to keep it real".
