Suppressed: Why Voting Matters and How Some People Try to Stop It

As the United States rises up in protest of the violent deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and so many other black lives, there may be no more important time to vote than this November.  Young people have long been accused of being apathetic citizens who don’t vote. What is left out of that conversation is that students, along with people of color, are the communities most susceptible to targeted voter suppression. For the latest installment of Complex World, we speak to Stacey Abrams, Rapsody and Malcolm Jenkins of the New Orleans Saints about how to ensure your vote is counted and what ti do when your vote is obstructed by voter ID laws, cuts to early voting, mass purges of voter rolls and systematic disenfranchisement.
