For the most part, video games aren’t meant to be funny. They’re supposed to be taken seriously. Games like Gears of War, Halo, and Mass Effect pour on the drama so thick that you have to use a spoon just to digest them. The thought of cracking a smile is a no-no with some of these titles. But sometimes, even we, the gamers who love them, have to step back, shake our heads, and laugh at what goes on in some of these games and even in the gaming world itself. Some of the titles and events on this list are intentionally laughable, but many, many more are not supposed to be, which is what makes them so damn funny in the first place. Continue on to see some of gaming’s funniest moments.

25. Every Line Barry Says in the First "Resident Evil"

Barry represents pretty much everything we want in a bearded sidekick. Lockpicks, comments on "becoming sandwiches" and discussions on how he hopes "this isn't Chris' blood". Honestly, every line Barry says in the first Resident Evil is the funniest thing gaming has ever produced. In addition to that, all awesomely erratic hand movements and head nods he makes whenever he communicates. Seriously Barry, please never stop talking.

24. Yipes Asks, "Where's Yo Curly Mustache At?"

Video Link: Click here to watch

In Marvel vs. Capcom 2, there's a lot of spamming going on with Magneto. So much so, that social commentator (and likely Rhodes scholar) Yipes says, “Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!” over and over again as Magneto mercilessly keeps the other player from even hitting the ground. He then calls the orange and blue palette Sentinel, “Mango Sentinel,” and proceeds to ask where the opponent's, “curly mustache” is. Once again, another meme is born for the internet. The best part of the video is at the end where he proclaims, “F*ck the Knicks,” over and over again. That's just cold, man, and extremely amusing.

23. Kuma's Denied Proposal to Panda In The "Tekken 3" Ending

Video Link: Click here to watch

Believe it or not, but Tekken originally started off as a serious series. Tekken's first and second titles weren't playing around, especially with the whole Devil/Angel storyline. It wasn't until Tekken 3 when the series went completely off the deep end and never looked back. Panda's bizarre skipping backward, Eddie Gordo's transformation into the afro-topped Tiger and best of all, the ending with Heihachi's bear, Kuma, getting down on one knee and professing his love to Panda, only for him to get completely denied. We cried laughing watching this ending. And we still cry. It's really that amazing.

22. Blond Haired Bad Ass in The Wizard Introduces Us to the Power Glove

Video Link: Click here to watch

The scene starts off as all good ones do, with a stoic blond haired kid taking off his sunglasses. What follows is a demonstration of the most awesome device in the history of man, exemplified to the extreme in Rad Racer with hard metal blaring in the background. It all concludes with a Wild West whistle, a stare into infinity, and the proclamation of, “I love the Power Glove…It's so bad.” No truer words have ever been spoken.

21. "Hard Drivin's" Crashes Into Nothing

Video Link: Click here to watch

A precursor of what was to come in Big Rigs, Hard Drivin' showed us just how hard the wind could be in the game as we crashed head on into…nothing at all, as shown in some of the instant replays. Now that really IS some hard drivin'.

20. "Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing" "Gameplay"

Video Link: Click here to watch

Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing is legendary for its amazing realism. And by amazing realism, we mean the ability to drive through bridges, drive through trees, and best off all, drive off the screen and into the afterlife, where your big rig can seriously start flying into a white oblivion. Now that's some haaaard drivin' right there! And speaking of Hard Drivin'.

19. Kazuo Hirai Being the Only Person in the Room Excited About "Ridge Racer"

Video Link: Click here to watch

When Sony President and CEO, Kazuo Hirai, came on stage with a PSP on hand, we didn't expect anything of it. But that is of course, because we didn't know that he had a copy of Ridge Racer. Wait, we're sorry, Riiiiidge Racer on hand. It was the delivery that would forever solidify Kazuo Hirai as both the most excitable and also, most depressed sounding Ridge Racer fan of all time. All in one sentence.

18. "What is a man?" speech in "Symphony of the Night"

We love terrible dialogue (See number one on this list), but Symphony of the Night's is some of the worst we've ever heard in our entire lives. In a good way, of course. We don't know if it's the wooden way Richter proclaims, “Die, monster,” as if he was reading it off a billboard, or the way Dracula actually throws his goblet to the floor before he tells you, “Enough talk! Have at you!” but the whole speech just gives us the giggles. It doesn't belong in this world.

17. Dreadlocked Asian guy teaches Tornado Kick in "Shenmue"

Video Link: Click here to watch

In the, what the hell are we watching category, is Tom, the Asian hip-hopper with dreadlocks booming his catchy song as he teaches Ryo how to do tornado kicks. Our favorite part? The way he criss-crosses his arms and says, “Hiiiiii, Ryo,” whenever you see him later in the game. We couldn't stop laughing then, and we can't stop laughing now. That's priceless.

16. The Pause Sound in "Street Fighter II"

Video Link: Click here to watch

We all love the banging beat when you pause Battletoads, but that's not funny, it's just awesome. What is funny though, is the grunts and laughs of what sound like heavily greased men as you pause Street Fighter II for various systems. Because we all need some “Ha! Ha! Ha! Hur! Hur! Uh!” in our lives.

15. Kicking the elf in "Golden Axe"

Video Link: Click here to watch

What begins as a well-deserved rest in Golden Axe quickly turns into violence to Santa's little elves. When they come on the screen and try to steal your swag, you ain't having that. Not this time, thieves. What follows is kicking the little bastards right in the face. We're not sure if it's MEANT to be funny, but we always laughed uproariously every time it occurred. How silly.

14. Picking the Rookies in "NBA Jam"

Video Link: Click here to watch

We know the Rookies were exciting back in the day, but we wouldn't scream, “HOOOOO!” just because we picked them. Well, the NBA Jam announcer didn't share our sentiment and would scream this strange mating call whenever we'd pick the promising team. Because you know, we'd all like to see HOOOOOO vs. the Nuggets.

13. Flying Horse in "Skyrim"

Video Link: Click here to watch

As if putting boxes over people's heads wasn't funny enough, we were treated to an even bigger laugh when we stumbled upon a horse flying around in the sky one day. The best part was, it didn't have its legs spread out or anything like that. It was in standing position, hurtling through the sky without even moving. We'd make an arrow to the knee joke, but, well, nothing is funnier than a glitchy flying horse. To Skyrim and its many, many glitches! That's game of the year material right there.

12. Superman's Flying Through Rings Fiasco

Video Link: Click here to watch

Notorious today for being one of the worst games ever made. When we put Superman in our N64's back in the day, we were infuriated that we wasted a trip to Blockbuster to rent a game where Superman actually spends multiple levels flying through f***ing rings. It wasn't until after we got back home and thought about it that we couldn't stop laughing. Seriously, who makes a game where all Superman does is fly through rings? Titus, that's who.

11. Mortal Kombat II's "Toasty!"

Video Link: Click here to watch

The first Mortal Kombat was a serious game! There wasn't a glimmer of cheer in it whatsoever. We mean, did you SEE Sub-Zero? He just ripped a man's head right out of his body, spinal cord included. So when the sequel came out, we surely weren't expecting to see any humor in our kombat. But that's when it happened. One uppercut from Jax and out pops some guy in a purple shirt (Dan Forden) saying, “Toasty!” It scared the hell out of us and made us laugh insanely at the same time. We mean, who wouldn't laugh at a falsetto tune of “Toasty!”?

10. "Mega Man's" Original Box Art

Video Link: Click here to watch

Not many box art covers are timelessly bad (What are we talking about? Plenty of them are!) but Mega Man's first venture takes the cake. What hasn't already been said about this atrocious box art? It's the crème de la crème of laughably bad covers. And yes, we liked that it was this Mega Man that made an appearance in Street Fighter X Tekken, and not the generic, regular one. Stop asking!

9. Everything About "Michael Jackson's Moonwalker"

Video Link: Click here to watch

From the spontaneous opening shot of a car flying through the air, to the bizarre scenes in-between stages where MJ goes, “HOOOO!” to even pressing up on the D-pad and making MJ get on his tippy toes, just about every single moment of Moonwalker is laughable beyond comprehension. The King of Pop was probably very proud of this game when he was still alive. It even featured Bubbles in it! Seriously, how does a game this perfect even exist

8. All Your Base Are Belong to Us. From "Zero Wing"

Video Link: Click here to watch

The phrase that ignited a sensation, AYBABTU is more than just bad engrish. It's transcendently bad engrish, leaping from the Genesis all the way to the internet. Poor video game localizations would never be the same.

7. Poor Translation in "Metal Gear"

Video Link: Click here to watch

The poor grammar in Metal Gear (“Uh oh, the truck have started to move,” I Feel Asleep”) makes us think that the LOLCats translated the script when the game came to America. And if they did, then yes, you can has cheezeburger now.

6. "Heavy Rain's" Glitches Galore

Video Link: Click here to watch

Speaking of Heavy Rain, that game is plagued with more glitch gremlins (AVGN reference for ya) than any other game we've ever played in our entire lives (And yes, we've played Skyrim). Laughably-and even kind of scary-glitchy faces are hilarious and what not, but we especially love the one glitch we encountered where we were driving an invisible car. Seeing our protagonist sit-flying in the air made us spit our Sprite through our noses. How could it not?

5. Press A to "Mario" in "Luigi's Mansion"

Video Link: Click here to watch

Before there was press X to Jason in Heavy Rain, there was press "A" to "Mario" in Luigi's Mansion. When we realized that the fat green button on the Gamecube controller was solely there so that Luigi could scream his brother's name, we were at first furious, but then, we laughed our asses off. We mean, seriously, how genius is that? Priceless.

4. The Bear Transformation in "Altered Beast"

Video Link: Click here to watch

We were going to put Zeus' impression of Elmer Fudd on this list (“Wise Fwom Your Gwave”), but decided to put this silly bear transformation instead. Remember when you first saw The Shining and witnessed that scene where the guy in the bear suit was giving a BJ to some old fart on a bed. Yeah, well, that's how much we laughed when we saw this scene, too. It's just hilarious. We totally dig the flames.

3. "Indigo Prophecy" Goes Batcrap Crazy

Video Link: Click here to watch

We knew the game got a little on the weird side with the punching bag scene (We don't remember the exact line, but it went something along the lines of, "When I punch this bag, I can feel myself getting stronger." When it got to this full on Matrix-like battle in mid-air, we knew the game we thought we were playing was not what it turned out to be. What the hell happened? How did things get so weird?

2. Fugitive Huntaaaa! Rap (From "Fugitive Hunter: War on Terror")

Video Link: Click here to watch

This rap would have made it even higher on the list if it wasn't entirely accurate on the siege of Bin Laden. Because we all know that big bad ugly got kicked right into a helicopter while somebody off-screen with gold teeth sang, “Fugitive huntaaaa!

1. The king saying,"Mah, boy" in "Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon"

Video Link: Click here to watch

Just about everything in this stinker is laughable beyond belief (The gameplay, Ganon's ridiculous expressions, Link looking like he never-thankfully-looked before), but nothing matches the sheer hilarity of the king saying, “Mah boy” like he just finished a whole keg of ale and wants to take Link in back to play find the Triforce…in his pants. It's so hilarious, that you pretty much can't find a single YouTube clip of the scene without it being turned into a music video of some sort. It needed that much attention.
