Video: BlackBerry Bold 9790 Sale Causes Shopper Frenzy, Leaves 90 People Injured in Indonesia

A deal to kill for?

While people here in the U.S. knuckled up today to ensure they got the best Black Friday deals, over in Jakarta, Indonesia, BlackBerry's new Bold 9790 caused such a commotion when its price was slashed in half that 90 people were injured.

RIM's smartphone is the top dog in Indonesia, with four out of five smartphones sold being a BlackBerry. So it's ever so slightly understandable that when a sales associate announced the store which was selling the 9790 for 50% off (in Indonesia it retails for $520) was going to run out of its stock, that those waiting in line stampeded their way into the store. Things got seriously of out control—three people had to be hospitalized for broken bones, and over 200 cops and security guards had to be called in to restore the peace.

Peep the above video and then see how it compares to the Worst Shopping Stampedes.
