Kanye West has formed a partnership with adidas. Amidst swirling rumors, West stated on the Angie Martinez show on New York's Hot 97that he was cutting ties with Nike and launching a venture with adidas.

"I took the adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family."

"Whatever is official, non-official, official—what y'all gonna see is I'm gonna be the Tupac of product."

"I'm gonna be the first hip-hop designer and because of that I'm gonna be bigger than Wal-Mart."

Kanye's recent campaign to find a backing partner started when he appeared in an intense interview with BBC's Zane Lowe, and claimed all he needed was a joint-venture partnership to achieve the breakthrough his fashion design aspirations needed. After making numerous appearances and giving "rants" during which he stated his intentions to revolutionize fashion and apparel, it now appears Ye has the opportunity and the funding he's been seeking.

UPDATE

West continued on with the barriers and frustrations that he faces when dealing with the fashion world, but still doing whatever he wants: "What I want to express is yes, there are things that hold me back because I'm black but there's also reasons why I'm there because I'm black. They need a token. But since I'm the token I'm gonna spend my token and take the train all the way home. I'm gonna wear tight jeans like a white boy and a big chain like hip-hop."

Kanye ended this explosive interview with Angie Ma by saying, "I have a meeting with a corporation actually and I don't want to be late and prove any stereotypes." We can only assume that it's with adidas. Yeezy season has taken an unexpected and very interesting turn.
