There are a lot of things about the fashion industry that go unnoticed or that are swept under the rug (sometimes on purpose). But one thing is clear: This is a superficial world. Editors, designers, brand publicists, marketing gurus, and anyone else involved push unreal and unattainable standards of beauty and body shapes. Take for instance the idea that if you're not sample size, you're an extraterrestrial being. We know that's not true, though, and we've come to realize that even celebrities and models don't always look the way they do in magazines. But, the struggle for perfection is real and what the industry wants, the industry wants.

This is where Photoshop comes into play. The photo enhancing software, as anyone who's ever had a red eye in a picture will know, allows for easy retouching. A simple click on the Liquify Filter, Bloat Tool, or Paint Brush Tool does wonders. But unlike these people who hilariously used the software to incorporate their favorite celebrities in their photographs, the fashion industry can take it a little too far. In an effort to make everyone a size zero, models lose their waist lines, legs don't line up with hip bones, and faces are blatantly copied and pasted onto thinner models' bodies. In certain cases, the slip-ups—extra hands, missing legs, and floating body parts—are just ridiculous (and pretty funny).

As these 10 Horrible Model Photoshop Fails will show you, not all things are how they appear.

Ralph Lauren

When: 2009

Ralph Lauren received a lot of flack for blatantly snatching Filippa Hamilton's waist. No one is that skinny—her head is bigger than her pelvis. The reps at Ralph Lauren said it would not happen again, but in 2009, the brand released a similar ad, this time featuring model Valentina Zelyaeva who was also too skinny for words.

Here is an example of the industry's obsession with size zero models. Model Crystal Renn said she was "shocked" after seeing the retouched photos—and rightly so. Renn, who's one of the most famous plus sized models, has made it her focus to speak out against this unrealistic idea of beauty. For the photographer, Nicholas Routzen, to make her appear thinner and then tell the Daily Mail that he's "paid to make women look beautiful" is just wrong.

Free People

When: 2013

Women's breasts are some of the most-retouched in ad campaigns. You would think they would have perfected it by now. Guess not, though, because someone either at Free People or the selling retailer's website forgot to enhance this model's boob on the right.

Simply Be

When: 2012

At a quick glance, it doesn't appear as though there's anything wrong with this photo. That is until you look at the model's hand. Someone went HAM with the Eraser Tool.

LOL. This one's self-explanatory.

Because no one will ever notice that this model only has one leg...

Shiseido

When: 2010

The funny thing is, the Japanese hair care and cosmetics producer actually released this ad. Don't they have people to approve campaigns before they go public? And if someone did look it over, how could you miss that leg hanging off the rock? And that hand floating beside the model's left foot?

Nordstrom

When: 2010

Nordstrom said that they didn't retouch this photo, save for wrinkles on the shirt, the models nipples, and enhancing the color. But the debate is still up for grabs on this one.

J. Crew

When: 2012

J. Crew went a little overboard with the retouching and took a chunk right out of this model's thigh. Poor girl.
