The Americana Blogger

Regularly Reads: A Continuous Lean, Secret Forts, All Plaidout, Free/Man
Favorite Things: Factory Visits, Small Towns, Artisan Pop-Up Shops
Most likely to use the term: “Authentic.”

He buttons his Pointer Brand chore coat as his Red Wing Boots trudge forward in a march of stylish solidarity. The wind blows hard against his bushy beard that smells faintly of an expensive cologne named after an ancient Indian burial ground in Oklahoma. Yet, it fails to muss his perfect side part. Tonight, his ride is not the vintage Ford Bronco he always wanted, rather the Brooklyn-bound L Train. But in his mind, he is on the prairie, stoking an open flame in the friscalating dusklight, about to get laid by a busty blonde on a genuine Pendleton blanket.

He probably has...
A Sierra Designs 60/40 Mountain Parka, $400
A Pair of Custom New Balance 574s, $115
A Hill-Side Blanket Lining Scarf, $128

The Persistent Streetwear Blogger

Regularly Reads: Hypebeast, Nicekicks, Freshness Mag, Slam x Hype
Favorite Things: Limited-Edition Collaborations, Kanye West, Standing in Line at Supreme
Most likely to use the term: “Swag!”

He started lining up for the Versace x H&M collaboration the moment the words came out of Donatella Versace's mouth. It's cool though, he has enough North Face parkas to survive an Arctic expedition, and even then, he would totally wear his Eddie Bauer x Nigel Cabourn jacket for that anyway. He changes his kicks at least five times a day and buys his Jordan 3s in threes. One pair for his feet, one pair for his closet, and one pair to flip on his underground shoe store. He learned Japanese just to read Honeyee and buy shit off Rakuten.

He probably has...
A Ronnie Fieg x KITH Varisty Jacket, $240
A Supreme Tigers Patch Beanie, $30
A Pair of Visvim Hockney Folk Shoes, $888

The Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiast

Regularly Reads: The Selvedge Yard, 10Engines, Bike Exif, A Time to Get
Favorite Things: Steve McQueen, Motorcycle License, Small-batch Whiskeys
Most likely to use the term: “Badass.”

He lives for the open road. When he's not catching up on Sons of Anarchy he's rewatching The Great Escape for the 612th time. He knows more about fuel tanks, pistons, and kick-start pedals than he does about his own children. He gets turned on by the smell of leather and rubber, but only when they're together. Don't get it twisted though. He can outdress the fuck out of you. He is Marlon Brando in The Wild One with the ability to turn into Jay Gatsby when the occasion calls for it. He sees himself a living, breathing shot of American-made whiskey. Rough around the edges with a reputation for trouble, but during the right times, capable of being perfectly smooth.

He probably has...
A Schott Heritage Perfecto Jacket, $995
A Pair of Rag & Bone Driving Gloves, $325
A Rockhard Solid American Classic Open Face Helmet, $81

The Gratuitous Self-Portrait Taker

Regularly Reads: Bryanboy, Street Etiquette, The Style Blogger, Dapper Lou
Favorite Things: Party Invites, Not Smiling, Fashion Week
Most likely to use the term: “Press preview.”

He fears the shadows. They fuck up his shots. See him in the daylight hours, strolling around SoHo with a tote bag filled with exactly the right amount of Japanese men's magazines to give it an artful heft. His pants have never met his ankles. He has two dogs named Aperture and F-Stop, and yes — they too are photogenic. He has no idea what a zit is and if you ask him about acne he'll think you're talking about the clothing brand. See him at all the hottest parties, beasting all the food between snapping photos with Theophilus London and Jeremy Renner. Oh, you didn't get an invite? Don't worry. Wait for the post. There is no sleep for him tonight. There are photos to upload. There are selects to make. There are new angles for him to discover that perfectly accentuate his jawline.

He probably has...
A Pair of Marc Jacobs Skinny Cuffed Wool Pants, $399
A Beurer Lighted Pocket Mirror, $12
A Canon 7D, $1,579

tumblr

The Teenage Tumblr Addict

Regularly Reads: gaws, Nickel Cobalt, NOVH, Justin Chung Photography
Favorite Things: Mark McNairy, Living at Home, People with Tattoos
Most likely to use the term: “Rebloggable.”

He went through puberty on the same day Michael Williams first launched "A Continuous Lean." His first love was lookbook.nu, where he would show off his ample wardrobe of Common Projects sneakers, Nudie Jeans, and American Apparel v-necks. He's older now though, and smarter. He is growing his first mustache and just bought a pair of Lanvin cap toe sneakers. He is grown because he posts photos of naked chicks with tattoos on his tumblr. He says the word "fuck." A lot. He cares more about his anonymous Internet followers than he does his own parents. They don't understand. They didn't think it was a big deal that Justin Bieber wore Junya. He'll show them one day. Just wait. He'll turn those reblogs into dollars, and they'll all be sorry.

He probably has...
A Junya Watanabe Fair Isle Sweater Blazer, $1,320
A Gant Rugger Solid Oxford Shirt, $98
A Credit Card They Don't Pay For, Chase Credit Cards Info Here

The Made-to-Measure Hip-Hop Fan

Regularly Reads: The GQ Eye, How to Talk to Girls At PartiesFuck Yeah Menswear, Nice Try Bro
Favorite Things: Drake, Brands with Italian Names, Profanity
Most likely to use the term: “Neapolitan Trapwear.”

He prefers his clothes made by old Italian men with names like Giuseppe, Stefano, and Antonio. He geeks out over pick-stitched lapels, half-canvassed sportcoats, and fabrics so luxurious the tailors charge you just to look at them. He wears double monk strap shoes because tying laces is for peasants. Yet, his taste in music couldn't be further removed from his clothing obssession. A look at his twitter feed is a mixture of style advice and Take Care lyrics repurposed into verses about buttondown shirts and tweed trousers. He watched The Throne three times. Twice in a bespoke salmon-colored double-breasted suit, and once in a Thom Browne shirt made of former New Era fitteds. He is the living version of luxury rap, who just happens to be the whitest kid on the block.

He probably has...
A Comme Des Garcons Double-Breasted Jacket, $1,039
A Luciano Barbera Spread Collar Dress Shirt, $350
Rocksmith x Wu-Tang C.r.e.a.m. Snapback, $34
A Pair of Shoe Passion Double Monks, $278

The Modern Preppy

Regularly Reads: Unabashedly Prep, Ivy Style, The Trad, Off The Cuff
Favorite Things: Maine, Critter Pants, Divorce
Most likely to use the term: “Sailing.”

No, he's not a snob, and he does not have a sister named Muffy. He does know a couple of Chads, a Trey, and a Tripp. He's different though. He embraces his preppy lifestyle but is not a victim of it. He wouldn't be caught dead in an oxford shirt from Vineyard Vines and his taste in music goes beyond MGMT and Vampire Weekend. Like The Americana Blogger, he too yearns for the old days. He did go to an Ivy League school, but certainly not when they handed out well-fitting sweaters embroidered with your graduation date upon matriculation. Deep down, all he really wants to be seen by a Japanese editor, who upon noticing his lime green go-to-hell repp tie, decides to take photos of him for a magazine.

He probably has...
An Epaulet Caine Navy Hopsack Sportcoat, $650
A Garden Print Bowtie, $45
A Kiel James Patrick Bracelet, $45
A Pair of Alden Cordovan Leisure Moccasins, $573

hater

The “I HATE EVERYTHING” Blogger

Regularly Reads: Mister Mort, Put This On, Styleforum, The Reference Council
Favorite Things: Twitter, Old People, Anonymous Comments
Most likely to use the term: “Gross.”

He's seen it all, and is no longer impressed by anything. For the past couple of years he has witnessed the decline of civilization as he knew it. Cuffed pants? Skinny jeans? Sweaters as outerwear?! What happened to the days when men were men? They didn't dress to impress each other with bandannas artfully folded into breast pockets. They talked about women and alcohol amongst each other, not Loro Piana fabrics and up-and-coming menswear designers! It's not that he really hates everything, he's just been around so long that his taste is very particular. He knows what he likes and will not stray from it, and for that uncompromising dedication — as well as his hilariously snarky commentary, we salute him.

He probably has...
A Pair of Levi's Vintage Clothing 501 Jeans, $215
An Engineered Garments Coleman Jacket, $389
An AARP Card, AARP.org

The “I Speak in Pictures” Blogger

Regularly Reads: The Impossible Cool, You Have Broken The Internet, Yimmy Yayo, Nerd Boyfriend
Favorite Things: Instagram, Life Archives, Expensive Food
Most likely to use the term: “Classic.”

He is a man of few words, but many photos. His life flashes before your eyes — and your instagram feed. Shell cordovan brogues, expensive sneakers, a hint of that limited-edition flannel shirt from a Japanese streetwear brand whose name you can't quite pronounce. He does not humblebrag, the pictures do that for him. "Oh today? Today I'm just driving around the Italian countryside in a Maserati on loan from my buddy Lapo Elkann." See, other guys would tweet that shit. But him? He snaps a photo of the debonair automotive heir, sitting shotgun, giving a thumbs up.

He probably has...
An iPhone SLR mount, $249
A Frequent Flyer Card, Delta Skymiles Info Here
A Pair of Persol Steve McQueen Foldable Sunglasses, $310

The Street Style Blogger

Regularly Reads: The Sartorialist, Street Peeper, William Yan, Jak and Jil
Favorite Things: Europe, Editors, Smokers
Most likely to use the term: “Sprezzatura.”

He is a hunter relying on his senses and intuition to catch is prey. There, in the disance, he sees it. Stepping outside of that vintage bookstore: leopard print desert boots. He readies his camera and pursues the target, filling up gigabytes of memory for that one perfect shot. He dreams of the day when he can sell photos of crazy shoes and dudes with tall tees as pocket squares to big magazines for hundreds of dollars.

He probably has...
A Duluth Denim Flatpack, $265
A Tanner Goods Camera Strap, $82
A Sekonic L-538 Flash Master Meter, $309
