On Tuesday night, Serena William sat down with journalist and Oprah BFF Gayle King for a TED talk in Vancouver. During the one-on-one, the tennis star made a surprising admission: Remember when she told the world last week via Snapchat that she was pregnant? Well, that was, um, a mistake.

"On social media, you press the wrong button and...30 minutes later I missed 4 calls and I'm like, 'That's weird,'" Williams said, according to the New York Daily News

However, Serena wasn't planning on holding out on us very much longer. She admitted that, if she hadn't made the slip-up, she would have made an announcement anyway in "five or six more days."

Just after the big reveal, Williams was insulted by former Romanian tennis star Ilie Nastase, who was overheard saying, "Let's see what color it has. Chocolate with milk?"—a crude reference to the fact that Williams' fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, is white. She responded forcefully but gracefully on Instagram, with a long message that, in part, quoted from Maya Angelou's poem "Still I Rise."

During her chat with King, Williams discussed her relationship with Ohanian.

"I never felt pressured to get married, and I can't say I'm the marrying type of person," she said. "I love my life, I love my freedom, and I love my career. I always felt I didn't want anything to interfere with that... But really, he's very loving and he's very kind. He's very considerate."
