When you watch the Little League World Series on TV, you usually see player profiles show up on a graphic that lists their height, weight, and random stuff including their favorite music artist. For many of this players in this year's tournament, they are predictably listing Drake.
What else would you expect from pre-teens who are bombarded by songs from the 6 God on the radio and TV during their time away from being on the diamond?
Drake must have gotten wind of their fan love. After his native Canada was knocked out of the Little League World Series last week, Mid-Atlantic Region champion Maine-Endwell from Staten Island, NY advanced to the tournament final against Asia-Pacific Region champion South Korea. Before the game was held on Sunday, Drake sent Maine-Endwell a video with him saying corny pun to play off their team name to rally them towards the world series title. Just check it out above.
Maine-Endwell ended up beating South Korea 2-1 in the Howard J. Lamade Stadium in Williamsport, Pa. They are the first U.S. world champion since 2011, and the first New York-based team to win the Little League World Series title since 1964.
President Barack Obama even showed his respect to Maine-Endwell for bringing the Little League world championship title back to the U.S.
If you believe these Maine-Endwell kids were extra stoked by seeing Drake take the time to do this, then the video seemingly may have worked as motivation. If not, let's just hold Drake's brand of comedy to be as cheesy as Carrot Top's stand-up act props.
