Former NFL linebacker Antonio Armstrong, and his wife Dawn, were reportedly shot and killed by their 16-year-old son at their Houston, Tx. home early Friday. Dawn was found dead in the couple's bedroom while Antonio died after being transported to the Memorial Hermann Hospital, per the Houston Chronicle

Their teenage son has reportedly been charged with capital murder. When police arrived after responding to gunshots at the home at around 1:30 a.m Friday, they didn't notice any signs of a scuffle taking place at the scene. According to ABC 13 Eyewitness News, the 16-year-old called 911 and when authorities arrived, a note was found next to the gun, reading, "I've been watching you."

Following a short stint in the NFL where he played for three teams in two years, Armstrong took his talents to the CFL where he found success, receiving an All-Star selection and being named the team's Defensive Player of the Year in 2000. However, a fractured left ankle that he suffered later in the year slowed him down considerably and led to his retirement from football altogether in 2002.

Armstrong returned to Texas, where he was a local legend for his collegiate years as a member of Texas A&M. The 42-year-old was currently operating a small string of fitness centers alongside his wife, as well as serving as an assistant pastor at the same congregation as his mother. They reportedly had three children, two sons and daughter.

Since the news of their death surfaced, signs reading "Be Strong" and "Power of Prayer" have been placed at Antonio's gym.
