There's nothing we love more than watching old clips of pro athletes playing sports back in high school. From this clip of Michael Jordan dunking as a teenager to this clip of Allen Iverson playing youth football, it's amazing what you can find on YouTube. So when we heard that there was a "lost Russell Wilson basketball mixed tape" floating around, courtesy of Rolling Stone, we couldn't press play on it fast enough.
But then we watched it and…EHHHHHHH. We've wasted a lot of time watching YouTube clips in the past, but we really wish we could get our one minute and seven seconds back. Some of the "highlights" on the tape include:
- Wilson being introduced before a game
- Wilson taking a layup in his team's layup line
- Wilson throwing a bounce pass
- Wilson thinking about passing to a teammate in the post but then thinking better of it and swinging the ball back to the top of the key
- Wilson yelling out a play
- Wilson taking a charge
- Wilson making a left-handed layup
It's boring. Very boring. So boring that we're going to go ahead and tell you not to watch the video above. Instead, give the Russell Wilson throwback clip below a try. At the very least, it features him being crowned homecoming king, which is way more exciting than anything on his basketball highlight reel:
