The New Orleans Pelicans aren't dumb. They know what they have in Anthony Davis. In just three years in the NBA, Davis has shown that he has the potential to become, hands down, the best player in the league once he reaches his prime. And even though AD won't become a restricted free agent until 2016, the Pelicans not only plan on getting the 22-year-old to agree to a long-term deal on July 1, but they will reportedly pay him an insane amount of money.

According to John Reid of The Times-Picayune, the Pelicans will make an "assertive push" to ink Davis to a five-year extension which will "exceed" $143 million. That will put him at, at least, $28.6 million per year, however, T.J. Beisner of Kentucky's MyCN2.com has another important piece of information to add.
