Why Are Bay Area Officials Already Planning a Warriors Championship Parade?

The Bay Area is counting on the Warriors to win the NBA Finals this season.

In order to win an NBA title, Steph Curry and the Warriors still need to win 11 games. They would have to knock off the Grizzlies in their current best-of-7 series, knock off either the Rockets or Clippers in the Western Conference Finals, and then knock off whichever team makes it out of the Eastern Conference Finals. So Golden State shouldn't be thinking about winning the championship just yet.

But despite this, it sounds like officials in the Bay Area are already trying to map out a championship parade route, just in case the Warriors do win the 'chip this season. According to SFGate.com, they're trying to figure out where the route should run through—whether or not it'll hit Oakland seems to be the big debate now—and what exactly it will look like. It doesn't sound like they've come to a conclusion yet, but they're working on it.

Doesn't that sound like a bad idea? We know that, logistically, they can't wait until the day before the parade to plan it out. But couldn't they at least wait until, like, the NBA Finals? Because with this news coming out now, more than a month before the potential parade would take place, every other NBA team is going to shoot to literally rain on the Warriors' parade. And winning the title is going to get a whole lot more difficult for Golden State.
