It's not trending (yet!), but there are a bunch of people out there using the hashtag #YeahJeets like crazy today:
And why are they doing it? Well, Deadspin made mention of a Reddit thread this morning that features a bunch of people telling their best groupie tales. And a couple of those tales involve Derek Jeter. We are highly suspicious of them. But they're still pretty hilarious and have given birth to a catchphrase that is probably going to follow Jeter around for the rest of his career.
"My friend's cousin dated Derek Jeter for a while and had keys to his apartment," one Redditor wrote. "According to the story she entered one day to find him butt ass naked on his couch watching highlights of himself and bumping his chest with his fist saying, 'YEAH JEETS, YEAH JEETS.'"
"YEAH JEETS?" YEAH JEETS! But wait, it gets even more ridiculous.
"I actually kinda believe this," another Redditor wrote in a response to the first story. "Only because one of my friends claims he knew a girl that went back to Derek Jeter's place one night and proceeded to go down on him. As she performed, Jeter put his hand on her head and said, 'Yeah Jeets, yeah Jeets,' as she kept going. I believe it was a soft 'yeah Jeets' as opposed to a screaming bumping 'YEAH JEETS.' But it's close enough. I never knew if it was true, but if someone unrelated has another 'Yeah Jeets' story, it is gaining some validity to me."
Riiiiiight. Because there's no way two people would make up the same kind of story, right? Ha. Oh well. Even if it's not true, "YEAH JEETS!" is now officially a thing. Thank you, Internet.
