The 50 Best Dunks in NBA History (Video)

A dunk is worth only two points. A dunk in somebody's face? Also two points, but that's just because NBA puppeteers haven't figured out how to award points based on how badly a player was emasculated. (Obviously, the formula is the victim's height in inches minus his opponent's height, divided by how many years the vic's been in the league, multiplied by the number of viewers who witnessed the bruising of his ego.) While facializations are not technically worth any more than lame-ass layups, they are why we tune in nightly to see which multi-millionaire freak of nature will get cut down to size so we can laugh at him. With that in mind, check out Complex's list of the 50 Best NBA Slam Dunks, a collection of humiliating, in-your-face jams that should be worth at least an additional two points; one for each testicle that was crushed.

I'm assuming you guys couldn't find a lot of videos for some other gems that I think absolutely have to be in the top 50. These are just off the top of my head, and I went through your list twice so if one is already on there then pardon my mistake. But where was: Reggie Miller dunking on the Nets to force overtime back in the 2002 playoffs Derek Fisher on Allen Iverson in the 2001 Finals Derek Rose on Joel Anthony this past playoffs And Vince Carter when he was on the Nets dunking on Alonzo Mourning after getting bumped then pulling it back LeBron on Garnett 2008(?) playoffs And damn, putting "The Dunk" at No. 50???? And damn, only one Vince Carter dunk? And damn, Mike on Ewing at No. 10?

Yeah, gotta agree there should be some others on there, but which ones would you take off?

I didn't want to go through the pain of having to click every single one again (thanks Complex, for doing your stories in slideshow-type format) but the ones I did come across which I feel should absolutely be taken off for some of the ones I mentioned are the Kwame Brown one, Dahntay Jones one, Shaq on the hoop, and the Nene on Joe Smith one. I mainly mentioned those ones above because they were in big playoff moments (except the Vince Carter on Mourning dunk, but that one is way too good to have been slept on). But seriously though, the one VC dunk wasn't even in an NBA game, that really bothered me. He was arguably the best in-game dunker of all-time, and anyone that watched basketball from 2000-2006 can't argue against that. At least 10 of these should have made the list: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNmU1esUF4k

HOW ARE YOU GONNA HAVE STARKS ON JORDAN AS NUMBER 50!!?!?!? the sheer fact that starks made the GOAT his bitch means that this dunk is AT THE VERY LEAST top 20. was this list made by a bulls fan or some shit? cause this dunk being LAST is a fucking joke. this list is absolute bullshit until you get to the top 10 or so which are the indisputable greatest dunks of all time. the remaining 40 are essentially in a random order with no basis or rationale for their position on the list.

Agree. There was a NBA VHS (fuck, I'm old) I used to watch over and over again as a kid which was the "NBAs 100 Greatest Plays" and which had the Starks dunk at No. 6 best dunks, I think. When I first went through this list I thought that No. 50 was the highest, and they were saying that was the best dunk ever. But seriously, it was nicknamed "The Dunk" for a reason, and no way have there been 49 better dunks since then. Also that VHS named Jordan-spin-move-on-Ewing No. 1, and I still agree with that. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JezExldcIyM

the fact that Starks on Jordan and Grant was 50 automatically made this list suspect. DWade banged on a guy and did the cabbage patch. Gotta love it.
