The Best Sneakers on the Internet This Week

Nike, Adidas, and Reebok are doing great things this week.

It gets really tiring to look at sneakers everyday on the Internet. Everything tends to look the same after awhile and very few shoes catch your eye or stand out. Dozens of new shoes are previewed by brands, retailers, celebrities, and leakers on a daily basis, and there's more product on the market than anyone could ever consume. But every so often, there are a couple shoes that stick out in the best way possible; leather, suede, and rubber gems amongst a pile of indistinguishable footwear. This week, there were three sneakers (or collections) that treaded above the rest.

Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke "Coogi" (pictured above)

Anyone can make a "custom" sneaker these days, thanks to brands offering one-of-one services on their websites. But one name, the NIKEiD Bespoke program, reigns supreme. It takes serious cash and connections to even make a Bespoke Nike product at the brand's 21 Mercer shop. But even then, certain people are afforded better custom options than others, and one of them is former Nike employee Rocky Xu. This week Xu posted a pair of Bespoke Air Force 1s that were made out of a vintage Coogi sweater on his Instagram account, and they fucking ruled, no questions asked. None of us will likely get the chance to do partake in such a prestigious and official (these shoes were actually made by Nike) endeavor, but Xu was afforded this opportunity and he took complete advantage. Hats off to you, man.

End Clothing x Reebok NPC "Abyss"

There have been waaaaaaay too many sneaker collaborations in the past few years, and the biggest perpetrator of this has been Reebok. But the brand has been doing better work as of late, and its most recent project with one of the best retailers and collaborators, End Clothing, is just what people were looking for. It's funny, because the shoe is nothing original: It's a Balenciaga Arena made into a Reebok, but it's so good. I'm not a fan of "high-end" shoes, but I like the low/high idea of End Clothing, a shop that sells pricier footwear and clothing, elevating a Reebok into a super-premium shoe. Plus the all-blue and premium leather looks great. Grab these tomorrow morning from End.

Adidas Futurecraft MFG

Adidas Futureraft is the fucking future of footwear, and it's impossible to deny. The brand is doing 3D printing and a ton of other crazy shit. The latest project that the Futurecraft offshoot is taking on is a Boost-soled shoe that's fitted to the exact specifications of the wearer of the sneaker. The MFG shoe stands for "Made for Germany," and they'll be produced in Adidas' Speedfactory, which is a concept that allows localized footwear product. It's way ahead of what other brands are doing, and the shoes look good, too. Could you ask for more? Expect the shoes to become available in Germany at retailers, such as Overkill, this weekend.

Nike HyperAdapt 1.0

People have been dreaming of auto-lacing sneakers since Marty McFly hopped on a hoverboard in Back to the Future Part II in 1989. Well, this idea is finally coming to fruition and will be available to the public on November 28, but it's not the Nike Mags with the glow-up soles made famous by Michael J. Fox. It's something similar, though. The Mag was originally designed by Tinker Hatfield and later worked on by him and Tiffany Beers in 2011 for a charity-only release. Now the same duo is doing the HyperAdapt 1.0, a training shoe with auto-lacing capabilities. The sole even lights up, too. There hasn't been any word on a price point but expect these to be $$$$$$$.

Adidas GT Manchester SPZL

A lot of people won't understand my love for Adidas trainers, but once you go to a soccer game, throw down a few beers, and scream your lungs out, you'll get it. You might start to dress better, too, and it will start from the feet up with a pair of sneakers with Three Stripes. There's no better example of a shoe that fits this bill than the Adidas GT Manchester from the brand's Spezial line. It's a retro to represent the Northern UK city, and it's been done in the best-ever version. Say no more and sign me up for these. How long they'll last at a match, though? Well, that's another question.
