Premier's "Life on Mars" collaboration with Saucony releases this weekend and while it's obviously not a skate shoe, Premier has embraced its evolution as a retail store and brand. With deep roots in skateboarding, Premier has grown into full-fledged footwear space that now carries a mix of skate, lifestyle, and athletic sneakers.
Just days before the launch of Premier's Saucony Shadow 6000, Sneaker News had the opportunity to chat with Premier co-founder Eric Blanding for their latest edition of Sneaker News Select. Blanding discusses the inspiration behind the Saucony collaboration and even discusses Premier's evolution into non-skate categories. He states, "When we weren’t skating, a lot of the time you would wear runners or other “non-skateable” shoes to chill in. We opened a skate shop because that was what we knew, but when major footwear brands got involved in the industry, it brought a whole new customer into our store."
