Former Child Actor Who Starred in Paul Rudd's 'Our Idiot Brother' Dead at 19 (UPDATE)

Pennsylvania authorities say the 19-year-old college freshman had not been seen since Tuesday night and has not been answering calls from his family

UPDATED 8/9/21, 3:15 p.m. ET: Matthew Mindler, the former child actor who was reported missing this week, was found dead Saturday morning.

The news was confirmed by Millersville University, where he was last seen Tuesday night. The school did not reveal any details about the first-year’s student death, but said his body was discovered in Manor Township near the campus.

“It is with a grieving heart that I let you know of the death of 19-year-old Matthew Mindler from Hellertown, Pennsylvania, a first-year student at Millersville University. Our thoughts of comfort and peace are with his friends and family during this difficult time,”

The school stated Mindler’s body has since been transported to the county’s forensic center for further investigation.

Pennsylvania authorities are searching for Matthew Mindler, a former child actor who starred opposite Paul Rudd in 2011’s Our Idiot Brother.

According to the Morning Call, the 19-year-old freshman at Millersville University has been missing for days and has not answered any phone calls from friends or family. Mindler was reportedly last seen walking from his residence hall to a campus parking lot at around 8:11 p.m. Tuesday, and was wearing a university hoodie, jeans, white sneakers, and a black backpack. Local police also confirmed the student had attended classes Monday and Tuesday.

Authorities have been in contact with Mindler’s mother, and are working with university staff to locate the first-year student.

Mindler began acting over a decade ago, and appeared in TV shows like As the World Turns and This American Life, as well as the 2013 short Frequency. His last credited role was for the 2016 TV film Chad: An American Story.
