Adult Film Star August Ames Dead at 23

Ames, whose career kicked off in 2014, was recently nominated for multiple AVN awards.

Adult film star August Ames has died. The Ventura County medical examiner's office confirmed Ames' death Wednesday, XBIZreported. She was 23.

"She was the kindest person I ever knew and she meant the world to me," Kevin Moore, Ames' husband, said Wednesday. "Please leave this as a private family matter in this difficult time."

At the time of this writing, the cause of death had not been determined.

Ames was born in the Canadian Province of Nova Scotia in 1994 and later moved to Los Angeles, California. Between 2014 and 2017, Ames appeared in more than 120 productions including Ripped Apart, Lesbian Vampire Academy, Deadpool XXX: A Porn Parody, Don't Tell Daddy, and Bedroom Eyes.

The Adult Video News announced earlier this month that Ames had received three nominations including Female Performer of the Year, Best Three-Way Sex Scene (Girl/Girl/Boy), and Best Group Sex Scene.

Ames had recently received backlash online for comments she made about shooting with men who perform in gay porn productions. Ames, addressing the backlash in recent tweets, pushed back against those who called the comments homophobic.

whichever (lady) performer is replacing me tomorrow for @EroticaXNews , you’re shooting with a guy who has shot gay porn, just to let cha know. BS is all I can say🤷🏽‍♀️ Do agents really not care about who they’re representing? #ladirect I do my homework for my body🤓✏️🔍

How am I homophobic if I myself am attracted to women? Not wanting to have sex with gay men is not homophobic; they don’t want to have sex with me either👋 so byeeeee

I don’t have anything to apologize for! Apologizing for taking extra steps to ensue that my body stays safe? Fuck you guys attacking me when none of my intentions were malicious. I fucking love the gay community! What the fuck ever! I CHOOSE who I have inside my body. No hate. https://t.co/7dSbq27K2F

NOT homophobic. Most girls don’t shoot with guys who have shot gay porn, for safety. That’s just how it is with me. I’m not putting my body at risk, i don’t know what they do in their private lives. https://t.co/MRKt2GrAU4
