Todd McFarlane opens up about his career as a comic book artist that includes making Spider-Man cooler and creating the Spawn character.

In our new episode of Blueprint, Complex's Editor-in-Chief Noah Callahan-Bever talks to comic book artist and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane to get the story behind his path to success in the comic book industry.

"It's a lonely occupation," he explains. "If you can't get through 12 hours a day with what it is your work is, you're going to drive yourself insane. Who was I entertaining everyday? I gotta tell ya, me."

McFarlane, who recently revealed he's writing and directing a new Spawn film,​ also shares his blueprint to launching Image Comics and McFarlane Toys.
