More Making a Murderer is said to be on the horizon, though a release date hasn't been set. In the meantime, the attorney now representing Making a Murderer subject Steven Avery is requesting a new trial for her client. Rolling Stonereported Thursday that attorney Kathleen Zellner has also pointed toward Teresa Halbach's former boyfriend Ryan Hillegas as a possible suspect in the murder for which Avery is currently imprisoned.

"At first, Mr. Hillegas told law enforcement that he was just a friend of Ms. Halbach's," Zellner said in a 1,272-page motion to the state of Wisconsin, excerpted online. "Despite authorities eventually learning that Mr. Hillegas was Ms. Halbach's ex-boyfriend, he testified that he was never treated like a suspect in any way."

Zellner also argued in her petition that Hillegas "committed perjury" by describing Halbach's relationship with roommate Scott Bloedorn as platonic. According to Zellner, Hillegas was potentially motivated by jealous regarding Halbach and Bloedorn. Hillegas and Bloedorn were reportedly friends.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice released a statement on the motion expressing confidence in its rejection. "We are confident that as with Mr. Avery's prior motions, this one also is without merit and will be rejected once it is considered by the court," the statement, obtained by WBAY-TV 2, said. "We continue to send our condolences to the Halbach family as they have to endure Avery's ridiculous attempts to re-litigate his guilty verdict and sentence."
