Arya Stark Might Reunite With Long-Lost Pal in 'Game of Thrones' Season 7

Arya and a certain direwolf may have a big reunion moment in the works.

Dogs are great. Thus, the similar greatness of direwolves should come as no surprise. With Game of Thrones staring down its final two seasons, direwolf fans have started to grow concerned about the whereabouts of Arya's direwolf, the esteemed Nymeria. According to a recent Watchers on the Wall report spotted byEsquire, Nymeria might be making her grand return next season.

Maisie Williams has been seen in Calgary, i.e. the location of those captivating (and green screen-assisted) direwolf shots. As recently as this week, Williams was in the area:

Though mere coincidence is possible, Watchers notes that wolves from the Instinct Animals for Film group were also recently in the area engaging in enviable wolf activities. One of those fine actors is Quigley, who's been rocking it as Ghost since 2015. Another, though not named in social media posts, does possess some decidedly Nymeria-friendly physical features:

After taking a bite out of Joffrey's arm during a fight several seasons back, Nymeria resigned to a life of Riverlands roaming. In the years since her presumed hiatus, Game of Thrones has offedĀ many a beloved character while frequently earning the annual distinction of being the most pirated TV show of the year.

Will this be Nymeria's year? Possibly so, though you'll sadly have to wait a bit longer than usual for the show to start hitting HBO with new episodes. "Now that winter has arrived on Game of Thrones, executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss felt the storylines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing," HBO boss Casey Bloys said in a press release in July. "Instead of the show's traditional spring debut, we're moving the debut to summer to accommodate the shooting schedule." Bummer.
