Furious 7, which nabbed People's Choice Awards on Wednesday for Favorite Movie and Favorite Action Movie, will always stand as an emotional testament to the power of film and its unique ability to immortalize those fortunate enough to grace its presence. Though the sudden death of Paul Walker in 2013 briefly threatened to derail Furious 7 entirely, the cast and crew eventually decided to come together to pay tribute to their late friend with what would become one of the most successful movies of all time.

Accepting awards on behalf of the entire Furious 7 team, franchise star and producer Vin Diesel made a point to thank both fans and friends for pulling together to deliver the emotionally charged action film. "I say I’m not going to get emotional about, you know, winning these awards," Diesel told the audience. "I was cool when I was sitting in my seat but then they handed me two awards. One for favorite action movie and one for favorite film. You all thought that this was your favorite film. I think of Dom and Brian, and I start to think of Paul." Before being interrupted by loud house music, Diesel then paid tribute to his friend by singing the first few lines of Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Pluth's "See You Again."

The tentatively titled Fast and Furious 8, set to begin production later this year, will reportedly take the franchise to Cuba for additional international adventures. The film, directed by Straight Outta Compton's F. Gary Gray, is slated for an April 2017 release.
