In the CW’s sick new show DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, a mysterious man named Rip Hunter travels back from the year 2166 to try and stop an immortal tyrant named Vandal Savage from enslaving the entire Earth.

And how exactly is he going to do that?

Well, Hunter’s only hope for saving humanity is to assemble a team of eight fighters who must not only become heroes—they must become legends. Who are these elite eight who hold the fate of all time in their hands? Well, let’s introduce you to the team.

Ray Palmer a.k.a. THE ATOM: While Ray is already a genius, he’s always dreamed of being a super hero too. Looks like he’s finally getting his chance. By donning an advanced-technology exosuit, The Atom can do everything from shrink in size to survive a nuclear blast, all while kicking some serious-villain butt.

Sara Lance a.k.a. WHITE CANARY: Coming back from the dead would make anybody a bit angry, and White Canary is no exception. Lucky for the team, she is one wicked killing machine. For their sake, hopefully she keeps her blood lust focused on Vandal Savage and not them.

Leonard Snart a.k.a. CAPTAIN COLD: Calling Snart a hero is a bit of a stretch. To be honest, he’s a straight-up calculating criminal who’s way more interested in robbing the planet than saving it. But in order for the team to succeed in their mission, Captain Cold is going to have to play a big role.

Mick Rory a.k.a. HEATWAVE: To defeat an immortal tyrant, you need to bring the heat, which Heatwave certainly does—in the form of a pretty epic flamethrower. Let’s face it: With the future at stake, the Earth doesn't need another good guy. It needs a true bad-ass, and this fire-wielding pyromaniac might be just the right man for the job.

Professor Stein and Jefferson "Jax" Jackson, a.k.a. FIRESTORM: Separately, these two are simply the brilliant physicist Martin Stein and the reluctant mission member Jax Jackson. But together they form the Firestorm matrix, which has the power to create and control thermonuclear reactions. How’s that for teamwork?

Kendra Saunders a.k.a. HAWKGIRL: One day, you’re a run-of-the-mill barista. The next, you’re a winged Egyptian-priestess warrior with an eternal soul mate and an immortal arch-enemy that you’re destined to fight to the death. It’s all part of the game when you’re becoming a legend, girl.

Carter Hall a.k.a. HAWKMAN: The very soul mate we just mentioned, Hawkman combines a fiery temper with lethal combat skills as he and Hawkgirl team up—in both battle and love—to destroy their ancient rival, Vandal Savage. They say true love waits, but Hawkman and Hawkgirl really take it to a whole other level.
