Leave it to youths to make you feel decrepit. Leave it to the internet to keep creating opportunities for youths to do this. Because seeing teens including Arya Stark struggling to work a Nintendo NES—who never knew the dutiful act of blowing on a Nintendo cartridge—wasn’t enough, here’s more scientific evidence that you’re old. A woman recorded her bright-eyed boys trying to figure out how to use a Walkman and it’s just as hard as you would imagine explaining emojis to your grandparents would be.

The two boys struggle to get R.E.M.’s “Out of Time” cassette into the Walkman while their mom watches, amused and even laughing. After one of them gives up, Calvin the boy scout, appropriately wearing a “prepare to be amazed” shirt, steps in, determined to finish this impossible task. After several failed attempts he concludes one should “pull the ribbon,” which would have been very very bad. But in the end they figure it out.

I remember when I got my second CD player, a touchscreen, and thought it was the most revolutionary technology ever. Excuse me while I go watch this again and have a quarter-life crisis.
