It almost seems like Idris Elba enjoys stirring up James Bond rumors. Following mass speculation that he'll succeed Daniel Craig in the Bond role, the actor toldVariety that he's definitely not in talks with the James Bond team: "It's all rumor-ville." However, if the Bond team does reach out, Elba says it'll be the because The People have willed it.

If human beings want to know if there’s any connectivity between all of us, the one thing I’ve heard around the world universally is that, 'You’ll be great at James Bond!' If it should happen, that’s proof there’s connectivity amongst human beings. If everyone wants something, they can make it happen. That would be true.

Elba's interview with Variety took place before James Bond series author Anthony Horowitz publicly called him "too street" to play Bond...and then quickly apologized. The actor responded to Horowitz's shade with a subtle upbeat Instagram post, proving that he's classy, reserved, and calculating enough to emulate Bond any day.

Earlier this year Elba wasn't feeling the rumors, saying they robbed him of his shot at the iconic role, and blaming Craig for planting the idea in the first place. And although it seems like he's warming to public support, Elba still isn't into baseless speculation.

It’s an amazing opportunity, but who knows, man. I’ve stopped speaking about it now. Even speaking to you now, I shouldn’t have answered that question.
