Dragon Ball Super, currently airing in Japan, features the very shittiest animation in the 29-year history of Toei Animation's famously crude anime franchise. Thankfully, a few rogue animators have rendered Goku and Buu using CG, producing the following clips that effectively re-imagine Dragon Ball as, in Kotaku's estimation, a Pixar property. The results are miraculous.

Mind you, this is an unofficial project, a labor of love, spearheaded by an ambitious team of seven animators, character designers, and a score composer. The team launched their project "in tribute to Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball Z." No word yet on what finalized, commercial form DBZ Tribute might ultimately take. "Coming soon," according to the project team.

Let's hope that someone finances this thing into proper being, and that the final product is fiercely superior to the 2009 live-action flop Dragonball: Evolution. In the meantime, we've got these teasers and memes.
