Oh, Florida — the headlines-snatching home of George Zimmerman, public beach f:)cking, and horrendously misguided attempts at utilizing democracy's greatest gift: voting. Just so we're clear, it's also home to this:

Presumably while blasting "The Devil Went Down to Georgia Florida," commissioners in Marion Countyvoted unanimously on Tuesday to put the Confederate flag back on display at the county's government complex. The official asshole symbol of the year was taken down in Marion County following the Charleston Church Massacre, which promptly — bafflingly — inspired a debate among local citizens.

As noted by others, the reversal of Marion County's initial act of removal is troubling — mostly due to the fact that it implies a retraction of any assumed enlightenment. In short, Marion County took one step into the future before realizing they'd rather just take two steps back into the past.
