Officials say a woman accidentally shot herself in the head in Russia earlier this week while attempting to take a selfie.
According to the Independent, the 21-year-old woman discovered a 9mm handgun inside of a Moscow office on Thursday. While attempting to take a picture with the weapon, she reportedly discharged it by mistake, shooting herself in the temple. Local police believe the gun belongs to a security guard:
The police in Moscow have said they believe a security guard had left the gun at the office two weeks prior, and was on holiday at the time of the shooting.
The woman was rushed to Moscow's Sklifosovsky hospital, where she's reportedly in serious condition. Meanwhile, the Independent reports that the owner of the weapon could face as long as six months in jail due to negligent storage of the weapon.
