Ewan McGregor plays a notorious Australian gangster who becomes a sort of criminal mentor to Brendon Thwaites in the crime thriller Son of a Gun, which, it must be said, reminds us of the crime classic Heat with its bad-ass heisting, pressure from the cops and women-get-in-the-way story.
But that's not a bad thing, actually ...

Damn high praise. This movie looks dope.
McGregor and Thwaites play inmates at a prison, where Thwaites helps organize an escape, leading McGregor's character to bring him in on a gold heist worth millions. Sometime after that, it appears that things go very wrong between them.
I have to point out that although this film is set in Australia, McGregor is sounding extra Scottish. Although maybe that is an Australian accent and I just suck at telling the difference, in which case, I'm sorry Australians/Scots.
The film comes out on DirecTV On Demand on Dec. 11 before opening in theaters in January 2015.
