Man Charged for Coating NYPD Commissioner with Fake Blood During Ferguson Protest

He was arrested immediately.

The man who doused NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton with fake blood during Ferguson, Mo. protests in New York City on Monday night has been charged for his actions, authorities say.

According to the New York Daily News, Diego Ibanez has been identified as the man who covered Bratton and at least one more officer with blood in Times Square. The 26-year-old, who the Daily News described as "veteran of the Occupy Wall Street movement," was taken into custody and faces charges included nine counts of assault on a police officer.

Bratton maintained a sense of humor about the incident: "My wife has been complaining about my gray hairs, been asking me to darken up a little bit. But bright red is not what I’m looking at."
