One of Stephen Colbert’s greatest talents is taking a controversial topic and pointing out just how ridiculous one side of the argument is. Last night, he took on #GamerGate and interviewed feminist critic Anita Sarkeesian, who perhaps more than anyone else has been targeted with threats of sexual violence and death in the wake of her criticism of sexist video games.

Sarkeesian simply wants video games to acknowledge that women are not merely objects, and rather are equally deserving of fair representation in the game development and criticism, as well as the community of gamers. How dare she!

This has obviously not really gone over well, and has led to her GamerGate ordeal. The accusations of collusion between female critics and game developers really just seems like a façade put on by those who want to justify being total trolls and making threats they’ll never actually follow through on.
