Firefighters in Long Island were beyond puzzled when they discovered a python wrapped around the neck of a woman who crashed her car into a firehouse.

Newsday reports that Sarah Espinosa of Albany, N.Y. stole the serpent from a Garden City Park Petco yesterday evening before drunkenly crashing her Prius into the New Hyde Park Fire Department station house. According to Newsday, Espinosa hopped a median before barreling into the building:

Police said Espinosa was driving her 2010 Toyota Prius westbound on Jericho Turnpike, when she crossed the median, crashed into a Nissan Maxima -- then smashed through the front door of the firehouse, striking the two fire trucks.

Firefighters present in the station house at the time of the accident rushed to assist the 22-year-old, but got an unexpected shock when they found her wearing a python, which they removed. Luckily, no firefighters were injured, and Espinosa was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, petty larceny, and marijuana possession after being hospitalized.
