Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers both gave moving tributes to Robin Williams on their shows last night.

If you watched The Tonight Show or Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday and wondered how they could just ignore Robin Williams’ passing, it’s not because they’re heartless. The shows are both based on the East Coast and they tape in the mid-afternoon, so the news had not even broken Monday when they finished.

On last night’s shows, though, both Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers had an opportunity to pay tribute to the late comic, and both made very heartfelt comments that took two very different looks at the situation. A demonstrably upset Fallon discussed Williams' brilliance and reminded us that Fallon himself is a tremendous impressionist (remember his Williams on Saturday Night Live’s Celebrity Jeopardy?), and Meyers took the opportunity to mention that a larger conversation about depression needs to take place.

Both takes were important, and emphasized just how widely this loss is being felt across the entertainment world.
