Did Warner Bros. Move Up the "Batman v. Superman" Release Date Because They're Scared of Marvel?

Ben Affleck's "Batman v. Superman" is hitting theaters six weeks earlier than planned, all because Warner Bros. doesn't wanna fight with Marvel.

Batman v. Superman Release Date Moved Up

Here's the good news: Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is going to hit theaters six weeks earlier. Sure, we still have to wait until March 25, 2016 to see Ben Affleck go full Bruce Wayne, but hey, it's better than the previously set date, May 6, 2016.

But what's more interesting is that Batman v. Superman's studio Warner Bros. may have switched the release date because they're feeling the heat from their superhero competitors, Marvel Entertainment (and they should be, especially after the dominance of Guardians of the Galaxy). According to VarietyBatman v. Superman was scheduled to go face-to-face with Marvel's third Captain America movie, but was moved up to the end of March to avoid the competition.

This is probably just a good business move—now they won't have to split eyeballs with Chris Evans—but if the superhero movie race is a big game of Chicken, well, Warner Bros. just lost.
