The charges levied against a Bronx teenager who killed a classmate last month have been reduced, authorities say.
CBS New York reports that the Bronx District Attorney's Office announced last night that the second-degree murder charges against Noel Estevez, 14, have been downgraded to second-degree manslaughter. Estevez fatally stabbed Timothy Crump, also 14, outside of their Bronx school last month.
The teen's attorney alleges that Crump bullied Estevez for months, a claim neighbors have backed. Though Estevez will still be charged as an adult, his case will now go to Family Court.
