A corpse attached to a gurney fell out of a cornoner's van in Pennsylvania this week, rolling out into a populated road.

The Associated Press reports that the freak accident took place close to a shopping center in Feasterville, Pa. on around noon on Friday, forcing cars to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting it.

The Bucks County Courier Times adds that the driver, who was en route to the Bucks County Coroner’s Office, immediately knew that a malfunction had taken place and secured the body with the assistance of a pedestrian within a matter of minutes.

In a statement, Bucks County Spokesman Chris Edwards said that "Care was taken to respect the deceased individual," adding that the coroner's office "deeply [regretted]" the incident and promised to take the necessary steps to make sure nothing similar happens in the future.
