Horror fans rejoice! Showtime has already renewed Penny Dreadful for a second season, according to a press release from the network. The show, which follows the origins of classic horror characters, has earned solid ratings for the network, as well as widespread critical acclaim from viewers and the media. Showtime’s faith in the series is evident by its quick renewal, as well as the fact that next season will see the episode order increased from eight to 10 installments.
“Picking up PENNY DREADFUL was one of the easiest decisions I’ve made,” said Showtime’s president, David Nevins, in a press release. “The series has had worldwide impact, drawing big, passionate audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, and more than any other show on our network has hit the bullseye with viewers who want to watch television in all the new ways that are available.
