Nine-Month-Old Charged with Attempted Murder Is Now Nine-Month-Old Fugitive

The upside is that media coverage of the situation has resulted in an investigation and, hopefully, will lead to the charges being dropped.

Last week, Musa Khanwas granted bail in a Lahore court after being charged with attempted murder for allegedly trying to stone Pakistani police to death. A week later, he's a fugitive—and still 9-months-old.

According to Reuters, Khan's family is hiding the boy to protect him from the utterly ridiculous charges he's facing. Khan and his father, Ahmed, were among a group of people accused of attacking police and employees at a gas company. Reuters adds that Musa was charged because an officer said his entire family had assaulted him, regardless of how ridiculous that sounds.

"Police are vindictive. Now they are trying to settle the issue on personal grounds, that's why I sent my grandson to Faisalabad for protection," his grandfather, Muhammad Yasin, explained.

Musa is due in court again on Apr. 12, but might not have to appear because, as CNN mentions, news coverage of the absurd charges have triggered an investigation and the officer who filed the charges has been suspended.

It's a shame when you have to applaud people for using common sense.
