Following the death of Harold Ramis last month, Deadline is reporting that Ivan Reitman has stepped down as the director of Ghostbusters 3. But while Reitman is now officially off the project, he will help Sony find a new director to take over the movie with the help of Amy Pascal. This is just the latest in a long line of trouble for the highly-anticipated threequel. Reitman had this to say to Deadline about his decision:

Despite the loss of Ramis and Reitman, Sony is still looking to start filming Ghostbusters 3 in New York in early 2015. We’ll see in the coming months whether or not these plans will actually materialize.
