Last week Sarah Jones, a 27-year-old camera assistant, was struck and killed by a train while filming a Gregg Allman biopic, Midnight Rider, in southeast Georgia. The shocking death saw a suspension of production for the movie. Hollywood has reacted by paying tribute to Jones in a number of ways. Buzz60 reports that a petition to have Jones honored during the Academy Awards has circulated and reached its surpassed its original of 40,000 signatures.
The untimely death also prompted a "Slates For Sarah" movement, a tribute in which filmmakers place "RIP Sarah" or "Slates For Sarah" on film slates.
