Microsoft and its spokespersons are sending out warnings for Xbox One owners not to attempt a “backwards compatibility” features circulating the Internet. It is fake and will make your console useless, otherwise known as bricking.

Pranksters at 4Chan, the image-sharing site, created an official-looking Xbox image with instruction on how to make the Xbox One backwards compatible. The instructions, if followed, will break the Xbox One and void the warranty.

After getting a lot of attention on Twitter for a fix for one of gamers biggest complaints about the Xbox One, Microsoft spokesperson Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb has responded. "To be clear there is no way to make your Xbox One backwards compatible & performing steps to attempt this could make your console inoperable."
