2014 is primed to be the return of the biblical epic, thanks to Darren Aronofsky’s Noah and Ridley Scott’s Exodus, a big budget retelling of the story of Moses, starring Christian Bale as the leader of the Israelites. The scale of the movie promises to be massive, and it better be if it hopes to match what Cecil B. De Mille achieved in 1956’s The Ten Commandments, which starred Charlton Heston as Moses.
Now Empire has debuted the first image from Exodus, featuring a clear look at Christian Bale’s take on Moses in front of the construction of the Great Sphinx of Giza. The movie will also star Joel Edgerton as Ramesses II and Sigourney Weaver as Tuya. We’ll see if Bale and Scott can pull off a miracle and put out a biblical flick worth seeing when Exodus is released on December 12, 2014.
